Kamu -

KAMU consists of keyboardist Kim Kapfer, bassist Frank Musacchio, and drummer Carl Kapfer. Besides being lifelong friends and family these three musicians have been part of the Central NY music scene for many years. In the early 90's, along with guitarist Don Kahler and vocalist Bryan Dickenson, they formed the core rhythm section of the horn driven band Not For Profit which featured some of the best horn players from the Central NY region including Pat Carney, Wayne Davidson, Rob Robson, and Joe Sokolowski. Also noteworthy, Frank Musacchio has recently recorded with saxophonist Jeff Gaeth on Jeff’s newest smooth jazz cd Shoestrings, in which Frank showcases his talent on both fretless bass and trombone. KAMU enlisted the help of prominent Central and Downstate NY musicians to complete the recording of the album A Better World: Rick Balestra on guitar, Larry Balestra on percussion, Josh Dekaney on congas/bongos/timbales, and Jeff Stockham on trumpet/frenchhorn. Providing lead/background vocals for this project is the multitalented Miche Fambro who brought this album to life. Lyricist Diane Bostick provided the inspiring lyrics for the compositions Separation and Put It In The Music. Diane has also recently released a new cd with her group CRUSH VELVET entitled Carnival Rain: And Other Slices of Life. The diverse backgrounds of these musicians along with the original compositions and arrangements contribute to the unique sound of KAMU.
